Beyond Words … From Elise
Art … music … sound … are beyond words … They are spirit … In Stillness … they may be felt within … As Colette Baron-Reid would say: “Experience what you feel.”
I have Elise’s permission to link to or post any of her blogs, as long as I credit her and provide the link to her blog which is www.EliseOnLife.com
“The highest things are beyond words.” (Ben Okri)
Remember what it felt like the first time you were really touched by a piece of art — how it pervaded your cells and rippled through your emotions, bypassing your brain entirely?
If someone asked you why you were moved by that particular piece of art, perhaps it was challenging to express what specifically affected you, why it spoke to you, or even how intensely your entire being reacted to it. There were no words.
Just like art or music, words are here to take you on a journey to a place of silence, an inner experience that is unique and personally meaningful. There is an unseen energy that flows between the words, among the paragraphs, from the spaces — and this energy touches you on a deep level, in a wordless way.
Rather than search for words to express the experience, try to soak it in, vibrate with the energetic feeling, savor the sensorial dance, and ‘get it’ on a nonverbal level.
Embrace the mystery of the art, music or writing — step into its fullness and depth in that place beyond words.
